Warm Winter Weekend

This past weekend was one of those “get me outside” weekends that stayed sunny and warm (so not the norm in February).  It felt amazing to ditch the coats, throw on a comfy pullover and my go-to black booties.  I picked up this sweater during a winter sale at Banana Republic and have been obsessed with it ever since.  It’s such a great transitional piece as it can easily be worn without a jacket on days like this and still keep you warm.  Fingers crossed the weather stays like this as there truly isn’t anything better than a sunny weekend in San Francisco.  Nothing makes me happier than to see people outside enjoying this beautiful city! read more

Black Lace

Happy Thursday!  How is it almost February?!  Time is FLYING this new year!  We spent this past NYE in Lake Tahoe where it was snowing and freezing.  I typically wear a dress for New Years but knew that was out of the question in the snow.  I stopped by a few shops in downtown Reno (on our way up to Lake Tahoe) and found this little lace top from Bebe that I had to have.  It was perfect for a wintery night out and I felt covered enough, yet still sexy.  Since then, I’ve been able to style it with a few different bottoms so it’s gotten some use (yay!) which typically never happens with NYE outfits. read more

Open Shoulder Sweater

I did a major closet clean-out over the holidays and it really got me focused on stocking up on basics and more versatile pieces.  Classic items, like neutral sweaters or transitional jeans build up a useful closet and I’m trying to focus more on those versus constantly buying statement pieces- which is a serious habit of mine!  Investing in better quality pieces that will last over time is always a good idea. read more

Rainy Day in West Portal

We spent a rainy Saturday this weekend checking out the city’s West Portal neighborhood.  It’s a low-key neighborhood with blocks and blocks of adorable shops and restaurants.  West Portal Avenue, where we spent most of our time, has a small town vibe which is so refreshing in a city that’s always hustling and bustling.  It’s filled with trendy shops, like Lemonade (if you’re into coconut, the coconut lime lemonade is a must), and lots of old timey theaters and bookstores.  We had so much fun walking around and checking everything out- be sure to scroll down and check out some of our top picks if you pay a visit! read more

Think Pink

Merry Christmas Eve!  With all of the holiday events and checklists this week I am excited for some downtime with our families this weekend.  I can’t believe how fast this year has flown by- seriously.  I could have sworn it was just yesterday that I was still in bridal mode planning away!  I will say, it’s such a nice feeling to be past the planning mode and focusing on new and exciting things (like Chic Happens).  I have been having so much fun getting back into this site and I have so appreciated all of the notes, e-mails, and calls of encouragement.  It really does mean so much! read more
