Cozy New Year’s Eve

This year we were looking for a low-key New Year’s Eve celebration since December was so busy!  One of my girlfriends sprung the idea to celebrate her birthday, which happens to fall on New Year’s Eve, in Lake Tahoe.  It couldn’t have been a more perfect idea.  We decided to stay at the Cedar House Sport Hotel in Truckee, CA and it was like living in a snow globe.  The snowfall in Lake Tahoe this year has been amazing and all of us enjoyed the change of scenery from the city.  Truckee is such a sweet little town and Cedar House Sport Hotel couldn’t encompass that more.  We were pampered with fresh baked cookies and hot chocolate every day while we watched the snowfall.  As much as I love dressing up, it was nice to relax and bundle up. read more

Half Moon Bay

A few weeks before we left to Italy, Kevin and I attended a housewarming party for our friends in Half Moon Bay.  It’s such a charming coastal city right outside of San Francisco filled with beaches, restaurants, and local shops.  We really don’t visit enough!  The Ritz Carlton in Half Moon Bay is famous for their hot chocolates and spectacular coastal views, so after the housewarming party we decided to venture over for exactly that and some people watching of course. read more

Dinner in Amalfi

Kevin and I had a budget set before we left to Italy.  But once we got there (and got engaged!), we blew through it, especially on food.  Each city has an entirely different cuisine and style of cooking and we wanted to make sure we ate and experienced it all.  There is something about eating a meal authentic to the region that makes you feel more connected to it.  Obviously, when we got to the Amalfi coast it was no different.  I really do try not to take food pictures in restaurants, and promised Kevin that I only would if the meal was really, really good.  This meal was no exception so feast your eyes on the most delicious meal we ate in the Amalfi Coast! read more

Paradise Found: Nocelle, Italy

We ended our Italian holiday on the Amalfi Coast.  Our train ride from Rome was an adventure in itself and if we had planned it differently we could have taken a few tourist stops on the way.  However, this being the last leg of our trip, we were ready to just have a few drinks and relax on the beach.   The train takes you through Naples, Pompeii- with views of Mt.Vesuvius, and finally arriving at the beautiful Amalfi Coast.  We took a ride up to Nocelle on our first night to catch the sunset.  Nocelle is a quiet little village nestled up in the mountainside and it overlooks the entire coastline.  It certainly has the most spectacular views and didn’t disappoint!  We took in the sunset and headed off to dinner down the cliffside in Positano.  Don’t you just wish vacation life was real? read more

Daytime denim in Rome

Every morning in Rome we fixed ourselves a croissant and cappuccino and people-watched over our balcony before heading out for the day.  Even though we visited during September, it was still summer weather so I spent most of our time there in shorts or a skirt.  Zara is one of my go-to stores for vacation wear since they are always stocked with great basics to mix and match.  I picked up this adorable denim mini for under $20 and was able to transition it with different tops throughout our trip. read more
