In CINC: Behind the Scenes with Chriselle Lim

A little over a month or so ago one of my favorite bloggers, Chriselle Lim (the beauty behind The Chriselle Factor) held a contest for two friends to come and spend a day with her and her team at their Los Angeles studio.  I immediately thought of one of my best friends from college, Julie, who lives on the opposite coast and I haven’t gotten to spend time with since our wedding.  I figured ‘what do we have to lose’ and told her about the contest and that we should enter.  Julie (who is a teacher and has such a way with words) submitted an entry and about a week later to our complete shock- we won!  We were beside ourselves at not only the thought of spending the day with Chriselle but getting to spend a girls weekend together in LA.

Fast forward to this past Friday where Julie and I were flown out to Los Angeles for the weekend to spend the day with Chriselle and her team (CINC).  We were filled with nerves and excitement as we weren’t quite sure what to expect as our day with them was mostly left as a surprise.  We landed and made it to our hotel, The LINE Hotel in K-town, which was generously booked by their team.  We arrived to a mega suite filled with champagne and makeup- basically every girls dream.

The next morning we woke up, totally nervous of course, and headed out to their studio in downtown LA.  From the moment we walked in, Chriselle and her entire team greeted us with warm smiles and hugs and made us feel completely at home and part of the team.  Julie and I knew we were in for an amazing day and couldn’t believe it was all happening!

We started off the day with coffee, donuts and their favorite fried chicken sandwiches- which were delicious by the way- and got to chat with Chriselle and the team.  It was such an incredible experience to not only spend the day with one of your favorite bloggers but to meet the people behind the scenes that make it all happen.

After meeting everyone, Julie and I got our makeup done by Chriselle’s makeup artist, Ting.  She is incredible and gave us both the look we were hoping to achieve.  If only every day could start off like this…

We spent the rest of the day getting to know everyone and had pictures taken by her photographer, Drew Scott (check out his blog here).  I got to ask all of the questions I have always wanted to ask about growing a blog and also gained insight into photo editing and filters.  Probably the biggest advice I took away was when I asked Chriselle her opinions on having an instagram feed that “matched” as so many struggle with, myself included.  Her response was “your feed should be you, don’t worry about it being too perfect”.   She explained that as long as each photo represents you and is edited to the best of it’s ability, you and your readers will love it.  What I took away was a confidence to simply stay true to yourself and the rest will follow.

To Drew, Hannah, Laura, Jane, Lauren, Candice (and Colby), Idalia and of course Chriselle, a big thank you from the bottom of our hearts for this unbelievable experience.  We left our day in CINC with our faces hurting from all of the laughs and smiles and carried that into the rest of our girls weekend in LA.  What you guys do is truly incredible and we hope to see you all again!

PS: Check out Chriselle’s post about our day here!
